The Only Can-Ryu Jiu-jitsu Training in Richmond / Vancouver BC

Are you looking for training that combines practical self-defense and traditional martial arts techniques?

That's what the West Coast Jiu-jitsu program in Richmond, BC is all about.

You'll learn Can-Ryu Jiu-jitsu fundamentals that work around differences in size and strength, combining throwing, striking, kicking, blocking, and joint locks. Suitable for women and men of all sizes and physical abilities!

This self-defense arsenal can be used to protect yourself against strikes of all kinds, holds, grappling and weapon attacks. Plus...

In Can-Ryu Jiu-jitsu, you learn to apply your skills in accordance with Canadian laws, unlike many other martial arts systems.

Through regular Jiu-jitsu training you'll develop speed, co-ordination, balance, leverage, and timing, as well as personal awareness and self-confidence. Many students also find that their performance in other sports and physical activities improve too.

Many Jiu-jitsu students, men and women of all ages, have trained under Lori O'Connell Sensei. The experience is fun and personally rewarding.

No Competitive Macho Attitudes

Some martial arts schools produce students who test themselves at the expense of others, using competitions as a measuring stick of their students' progress. Martial arts tournaments don't necessarily teach you the skills you need for street defense and they often result in injury to participants.

Self-Development Through Martial Arts Training

Our teaching format is focused on training hard and helping students to realize their full potential, mentally and physically.  Students work at their own pace, bettering themselves one class at a time. More about our Jiu-jitsu classes.
